Tallinn is the main practical base for sailing in Estonia. It offers the best mix of marinas, repair options, supplies, transport and crew logistics, while sitting directly on the Gulf of Finland route between Estonia, Finland and the wider Baltic.

For a first visit, expect good facilities but also a busy urban maritime setting. Ferry traffic, commercial areas, local harbour rules and wind across the gulf all matter. Approaches are generally straightforward, but planning the right marina and arrival side makes the stop much easier.

Tallinn works as a start, finish or reset point for Baltic cruising. From here crews can cross toward Helsinki, continue west to the Estonian islands or use the city as a comfortable service stop before quieter harbours and anchorages.
