Mallorca

Mallorca lends itself to day-sailing: you can stitch together short legs around the island, from the large marina cluster inside Palma Bay to the northern (Alcúdia, Pollença) and eastern harbours (Portocolom, Porto Cristo, Cala d’Or).

The Serra de Tramuntana on the northwest coast is high and exposed, with few real refuges—Port de Sóller is the key all-weather stop here. Along the east and south coasts, a chain of calas and natural harbours offers frequent, sheltered stops and straightforward approaches in settled weather.

Summer brings the local embat sea-breeze, giving predictable daytime windows; tides are small, and sea level is driven more by wind and pressure than by tide. Environmental rules are strict: protect Posidonia oceanica by anchoring on sand, using buoy fields and public moorings where provided, and checking local guidance before dropping the hook.

Just to the south lies the Cabrera archipelago (marine park): overnights are on reserved buoys only, with permits required. Overall, Mallorca functions as a “circular” cruising ground with dense services, many short hops, and clear weather patterns.
