Inverness marinas
Inverness at the inner Moray Firth combines a town on the River Ness with the sea approach to the Caledonian Canal.
Inverness
Inverness stands where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth system. Sea approaches pass through the narrows at Kessock Bridge, while the town centre lies upriver from the mouth.
Two different journeys meet here: coastal sailing and a passage through the Caledonian Canal to western Scotland. The sea marina and the canal’s entrance lock are in different places; arriving in Inverness does not itself begin a canal transit.
Ashore, visitors can walk along the Ness, explore the town centre, and travel to Loch Ness by land. These trips complement a sea stop without requiring the yacht to include the entire canal in its route.
