Tenerife is a large mountainous island dominated by Mount Teide. Its northern side has green slopes, old towns and a rocky shore; the drier south has more beach resorts and open volcanic landscapes. On the west coast, the cliffs of Los Gigantes rise almost vertically from the ocean.
Santa Cruz offers a view of the island’s modern city life, while neighbouring La Laguna is known for its historic architecture. Teide National Park, with lava fields and volcanic rock formations, is another major part of exploring Tenerife.
