Almería
Almería is an Andalusian port city set against dry, rocky mountains. The Alcazaba fortress rises above whitewashed neighbourhoods, while the old centre has a cathedral built with defensive fortifications. Moorish heritage, tapas bars and everyday port life give the city its character.
West of Almería, the coast becomes more resort-oriented. Aguadulce’s yacht harbour sits beside a beach and restaurants, while modern buildings surround several harbour basins at Almerimar. These places offer more of a beach-resort experience than Almería’s historic centre, with long stretches of open coast between them.
