Naples offers a very different experience from the islands in its bay. Narrow streets in the historic centre are full of everyday life, churches, shops and small eateries; the seafront opens onto broad views of Vesuvius. The city, its art and its food deserve time in their own right. Pompeii and the islands are separate excursions.
