River Medway marinas
The Medway in Kent leads from a broad estuary to Chatham’s historic dockyard and old Rochester.
River Medway
The Medway joins the southern Thames Estuary. Ports operate at Sheerness near the sea entrance, while farther inland the river bends between low islands, shallows, and industrial quays.
Berths are distributed along the river, so visiting Chatham or Rochester requires a separate inland passage. The destination represents a river area, not a single town or marina.
Shipbuilding history is especially visible ashore. Chatham retains its historic dockyard, and Upnor Castle stands beside the river; town walks can be combined with exploring former naval sites.
