Enkhuizen

Harbour town on the IJsselmeer at the start of the Houtribdijk, with the Krabbersgat naviduct linking the Markermeer and IJsselmeer. Waters are essentially non-tidal but level-managed and wind-sensitive; fresh westerlies often bring short, steep chop on open fetches.

About Enkhuizen

A classic IJsselmeer home port with easy access to wide, sheltered fairways and the cross-lake route over the Houtribdijk. The Krabbersgat naviduct—an aqueduct combined with a lock—eases traffic between the two lakes. Although tideless, water levels are managed and respond to wind set-up, so timing and fetch still matter for comfort. Approaches are well protected and lead directly into the old town. In season traffic is lively, yet manoeuvring remains straightforward thanks to generous basins and clear leads. Enkhuizen works well as a staging point for passages north and east, or across to Lelystad.
