The sailing season typically runs from May through September, with prevailing southwesterly winds averaging 10-15 knots. Waters are generally calm, with minimal tidal influence and moderate depths suitable for most recreational vessels.

Main marinas include Espoon Pursiseura (EPS) in Nuottaniemi, offering approximately 400 berths, fuel, electricity, fresh water, showers, sauna, waste disposal, and boat maintenance services. Suomenojan Marina, another significant facility, provides around 1,000 berths, fuel dock, electricity, water, showers, laundry, and pump-out station. Both marinas have good road access and nearby provisioning options.

Navigation is straightforward, though sailors should remain vigilant for marked shallows and rocks, particularly near islands and shorelines. Espoo's maritime heritage includes active sailing clubs and regular regattas, reflecting a strong local sailing tradition.
