Saaremaa has both a relaxed resort town and long stretches of sparsely built coast. Kuressaare draws visitors with its castle, restaurants and old centre. Beyond town lie stone-walled villages, juniper pastures and coastal scenery that changes from bay to bay.
This is a large island: Sõrve Lighthouse, Panga cliff and Kaali crater are in different areas. Allow time for trips around the island by land; a single walk from the harbour is not enough to see them all.
