About Rodhamn Marina

Rödhamn Guest Harbor is situated on the island of Rödhamn, south of Mariehamn in the Åland Islands. The harbor is a well-known stopover for sailors navigating the archipelago between Finland and Sweden. It is located in a sheltered bay, providing protection from prevailing winds and making it a favored anchorage among yachtsmen exploring the region.

The harbor is characterized by its natural setting, with rocky shores and wooded surroundings. Facilities at Rödhamn are limited, reflecting its focus on preserving the tranquil and unspoiled environment. Visitors should be prepared for basic amenities and plan accordingly. The island is also known for its walking trails and historical remnants, offering opportunities for exploration ashore. Access to Rödhamn is straightforward for most leisure craft, but mariners should consult up-to-date charts and local notices before arrival.

I arrived in Rödhamn from Sandhamn across the Åland Sea in not the nicest weather. It was uncomfortable outside, but the marina itself provided very good shelter. Mooring is on buoys, and the buoys are placed quite far from the quay: my 25-meter line was sufficient but just barely. There are no mooring bollards on the quay itself, so you have to tie lines to wooden beams. I didn't notice any problems with depths, but closer to shore there are rocks and noticeable depth changes, so I wouldn't approach the quay stern-to.

The marina itself is very picturesque, the nature is gorgeous and the atmosphere is very pleasant. A wonderful woman works in the harbour office; she keeps things in order and offers pastries in the morning. There is a good sauna — the first time I saw a gas-fired sauna. It is open until 21:00. The sauna itself opens without a code, while the showers and toilets require a code, so it's best to remember the badge code before leaving it on the boat.

I only stayed one night: arrived in the evening and left early in the morning, so I didn't use water or electricity. Overall impressions are very good. For those heading to the Åland Islands, I definitely recommend it.

Cozy ÅSS marina, just 10 miles from Mariehamn. Plenty of berths, with showers available. The toilets are located up the hill, in the style of a rustic outhouse. On shore, there’s a charming café and a small restaurant, as well as picnic areas. A sandy, well-maintained beach makes it very convenient for families with small children. In the morning, you can order fresh bread, delivered straight to your yacht. A truly delightful experience!
