Castlebay marinas
Castlebay is Barra’s main village, with Kisimul Castle on a rock in the bay and hills rising above the shore.
Castlebay
Castlebay faces its bay: houses climb the slope, piers line the water and a small stone castle stands at the centre of the seaward view. Ferries and local boats connect the village with life across the islands.
Kisimul is the defining landmark, clearly visible on the approach from the sea. The village itself is small; its appeal lies in island scenery, walks overlooking the bay and an unhurried stop in the southern Outer Hebrides.
