El Puerto de Santa Maria marinas
El Puerto de Santa María is a town on the Bay of Cádiz known for sherry bodegas, historic mansions and long sandy beaches.
El Puerto de Santa Maria
El Puerto de Santa María stands at the mouth of the Guadalete on the northeastern side of the Bay of Cádiz. Its old centre retains the houses of wealthy maritime merchants and the Castle of San Marcos. Large bodegas reflect another important part of local life: producing and ageing sherry.
The town has a long sandy coastline, with pines and dunes in places. The resort neighbourhoods and Puerto Sherry feel quite different from the historic centre beside the river. Beaches, bodega visits and Andalusian fish and seafood are the main attractions ashore.
