South-coast city with an open-coast approach and microtidal conditions (about 0.3 m). Behind the breakwaters the basins are sheltered; marina dredging in 2025 is improving access, and the waterfront location is close to both the city centre and the airport.

This is a largely microtidal setting—levels are influenced more by wind and set than by tide. The marina operates as a port of entry with 24/7 watch (listening Ch 16, working Ch 8). Ongoing 2025 dredging aims to enhance depths, and the location a short hop from the city centre and the main airport makes Larnaca a practical base for island circuits.
