Balchik
Balchik rises from its waterfront across pale limestone slopes. The harbour, restaurants and promenade line the shore, while residential streets climb above them with views across the bay.
The main attraction is the former summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania and the university botanical garden. The palace grounds and gardens occupy a stretch of coast with terraces above the sea. Cacti and succulents are a particular highlight of the plant collections.
