Jūrmala is more of a sheltered coastal and river stop than a major offshore base. Its sailing life is connected to the Lielupe River and the Gulf of Riga, with sandy coast, low shores and easy access to the resort town.

The reward is a comfortable shore stop with beaches, pine forest and Riga within reach. Jūrmala works best for crews moving inside the Gulf of Riga, looking for a quieter break from the capital or a local sailing stop rather than a full-service cruising hub.
