Lao Village is located in Western Estonia and is known for its harbor, Munalaiu Harbor. This small and peaceful village is an ideal destination for sailors, as the harbor provides sheltered and secure mooring places. Only a few dozen people live in Lao Village.
There are no major tourist attractions or nightlife in the village, but visitors can enjoy walks in the beautiful natural surroundings. The village is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, including forests, meadows, and the coastline of the Baltic Sea. Lao Village's history is mainly connected to fishing and maritime activities, as Munalaiu Harbor has been an important location for local fishermen and vessels.
The main function of Munalaiu Harbor is to serve ferry traffic. Ferries depart to Manilaiu and Kihnu harbors. The "Kihnu Virve" passenger ferry takes about 1 hour to reach Kihnu Island, and the "Mann" ferry takes approximately 10 minutes to travel to Manilaiu. Munalaiu Harbor also serves the islands of Kihnu, Ruhnu, and Manija.
Today, Lao Village remains a quiet place where one can enjoy nature, peace, and sailing, while still being away from the hustle and bustle of larger cities.
