Hiiumaa marinas

Hiiumaa is one of Estonia’s best islands for a slower Baltic cruise. It sits between the open Baltic and the more sheltered Väinameri waters, so routes can feel very different depending on which side of the island you choose.

For a first visit, expect modest harbour infrastructure, long summer light and weather that still deserves respect. The west and north are more exposed, while inner routes toward Saaremaa, Muhu and the mainland can be more protected but shallow and channel-led.

Hiiumaa suits crews who are comfortable with practical island sailing: checking wind direction, choosing a lee side, and accepting that the best stop may be a small harbour rather than a full-service marina. The reward is space, quiet shore time and a strong sense of being away from the main Baltic city routes.
