Bomarsund marinas
Bomarsund is a historic site beside a strait on the eastern side of Åland’s main island, with fortress ruins, woodland paths and views across the skerries.

The main reason to call here is the nineteenth-century fortress, destroyed during the Crimean War in 1854, and the extensive grounds around it. Surviving walls, hilltop tower remains and building foundations reveal the scale of the former garrison. The visitor centre explains fortress life and its fall, while woodland paths lead to viewpoints over the water. Walks can continue onto neighbouring Prästö, where the garrison’s historic cemeteries survive. Notviken guest harbour lies beside the fortress area.
