Whitehaven marinas
Whitehaven is a historic Cumbrian trading port with a spacious harbour, long piers and Georgian streets.
Whitehaven
Whitehaven retains the scale of a port once shaped by seaborne trade and coal cargoes. Large harbour basins, piers and rows of old houses create a more formal townscape than small fishing villages. Yachts and fishing boats now occupy the waterfront.
Behind the quay is a regular grid of streets with Georgian buildings. The appeal is the history of Cumbria’s working coast and walks around the harbour; the Lake District’s mountain scenery requires a separate inland trip.
