Getaria–Zumaia marinas
Getaria–Zumaia is a stretch of Basque coast with fishing towns, txakoli vineyards, long beaches and layered cliffs around Zumaia.
Getaria–Zumaia
The coast from Zumaia through Getaria and Zarautz to Orio combines green hills, fishing harbours and sandy beaches. In Getaria, old streets descend to the port, restaurants cook fish over charcoal and vineyards on the surrounding slopes produce white txakoli wine. Zarautz has a long beach and lively promenade; Orio has an old centre above the river mouth.
Zumaia’s outstanding natural feature is the shore around Itzurun beach, where tilted rock strata form high, layered cliffs. Part of the Basque Coast Geopark, this stretch differs sharply from the gentler scenery of nearby beaches and vineyards.
