Sundsvall feels quite different from the coast’s small wooden towns. After the fire of 1888, its centre was rebuilt in stone, with broad streets, squares and ornate merchants’ houses. Today, Stenstan offers architecture, restaurants and a museum in the former warehouses of Kulturmagasinet. The city harbour makes this a rewarding stop for time ashore during a coastal voyage.
