Świnoujście
In Świnoujście, a large port stands alongside a beach resort on Usedom island. A white navigation mark shaped like a windmill is its familiar seaward landmark. Behind the beach are a promenade, villas and a spa park; the yacht harbour in the Northern Basin faces the strait.
Old forts on both sides of the Świna recall the city’s military past. Inland, the landscape changes to channels, reed-lined shores and delta islands around Karsibór.
