Krynica Morska sits on the Vistula Spit between the Baltic and the Vistula Lagoon—an easy base for day hops on the lagoon and along the spit, near the Nowy Świat canal (opened 17 Sep 2022) and the Krynica Morska lighthouse.
Set on the Vistula Spit, Krynica Morska faces both the open Baltic and the brackish Vistula Lagoon, so routes naturally split between lagoon passages and coastal legs. Since 17 September 2022 the Nowy Świat ship canal across the spit has provided a direct link from the Gulf of Gdańsk to the lagoon and onward to Elbląg—useful for planning without entering Russian waters.
The lagoon is shallow on average (~2.7 m) with buoyed fairways, and wind can raise a short, steep chop. Seasonal water-tram services (Krynica–Tolkmicko and connections toward Frombork) simplify crew logistics ashore. A local landmark is the Krynica Morska Lighthouse (tower ~27 m, focal height 53 m).
The port on the lagoon side comprises fishing and yacht/passenger basins. Overall, it’s an eastern-spit hub: short lagoon hops, beaches and dunes on the doorstep, and straightforward access to the new Nowy Świat passage.
