Pico marinas

Pico is memorable for its high volcano, dark lava shores and vineyards enclosed by stone walls. It is worth a visit for its unusual landscape and island life, closely tied to the sea and winemaking.

The vineyards at Criação Velha are particularly striking: small plots of vines are divided by walls of black volcanic stone. The Whalers’ Museum in Lajes do Pico explores another important part of the island’s history, with boats and objects from the former industry.
