Hydra is the Saronic’s iconic stone bowl: town-quay mooring around a semicircle, very limited space (rafting two–three deep is common), day hops from the Athens area; micro-tidal waters, summer sea-breeze/Meltemi, with surge and gusts inside the harbour.

The main harbour sits in the town centre: stern-/bow-to on your own anchor along the quay; in season, arrive early—rafting is the norm.
Approach is straightforward but busy at the narrow entrance with ferries and water-taxis; plan manoeuvres, keep a VHF watch and clear of the ferry berth.
The seabed is patchy (sand/rock/old chains), so long scope and tidy anchor-lay help avoid crossed gear on departure. With northerlies/Meltemi, expect gusts and short, steep chop in the basin; southerlies are calmer, yet ferry wash still reaches the quay.
Fuel is delivered by truck/launch; water and power points are on the quay (token/card or on request). If the town is full, nearby fallbacks are Mandraki bay (mooring fields), tiny Kaminia harbour, and Vlychos quay (size/weather-limited).
The island is car-free—shore logistics are on foot or by boat—and Hydra works as a hub for short hops to Poros, Aegina, Ermioni and Spetses.
