Марины: La Línea

Spanish border city just north of Gibraltar, set on the isthmus between Algeciras Bay and the open Mediterranean: a practical urban base with Alcaidesa Marina, easy day hops along the Costa del Sol and across the strait in suitable weather; tides are small but Levante/Poniente winds and heavy traffic shape conditions.

О месте La Línea

La Línea sits immediately north of Gibraltar and fronts two waters at once: the calmer Algeciras Bay and the open-sea Levante shore.

The marina and waterfront lie on the bay side, so approaches and berthing are typically sheltered, with provisioning and transport within walking distance.

Typical routes are short day sails along the Costa del Sol toward Sotogrande, Estepona and beyond, plus Strait crossings to Ceuta or the Moroccan coast when the forecast permits.

This is a micro-tidal area; sea state and levels are driven mainly by wind and pressure. Levante and Poniente funnel through the Strait, often strengthening, while opposing flows and dense traffic make early manoeuvre planning and a continuous VHF watch essential.

Anchoring options near town are limited; it’s more practical to use the marina and nearby harbours as route “nodes.” Logistics are straightforward: the Gibraltar border is a short walk away, there’s airport access, and a dense chain of marinas and services lines the coast.
