Марины: Den Helder

Sea-facing port at the Marsdiep inlet, gateway to the Wadden Sea. Waters are tidal (about 1.3–1.6 m range) with strong streams in the inlet; traffic is heavy with the Royal Netherlands Navy base and the Texel ferry, and wind-against-tide often produces steep, short seas.

О месте Den Helder

Set on the southwestern entrance to the Wadden Sea, Den Helder sits by the Marsdiep where tidal flows accelerate. The mean range is roughly 1.4 m and water levels are sensitive to weather set-up.

Currents in the inlet can reach around 1.8 m/s (≈3.5 kn), so wind-against-tide quickly builds a short, steep chop. Traffic is busy: the country’s main naval base is here, alongside fishing, offshore support and the long-running Texel ferry. Inside the harbour, lock-controlled basins and canals offer more sheltered, essentially level-controlled moorings.

Prevailing winds are westerly to south-westerly along the Dutch coast; expect steep seas on onshore flows at the entrance.
